Healing Felt Collages and Wooden Plaques

Healing Felt Collages and Wooden Plaques made by the awe-inspiring women in the Healing Arts Circle at the Center for Wisdom's Women. The gorgeous felt was generously donated by Khaila Noel's Grandmother, Cyndi Black. The felt collages express places of comfort and the journey to get to these places. The wooden plaques express inclusion of the whole self: body, heart, soul, mind and spirit.

There is something to love

Yellow Warbler

There is something to love

in each moment...

When the wind lifts your feathers

When there is lichen

to dig your claws into

There is something to love

in each moment...

When you see Great Crested Fly Catchers

building a nest

or a White Egret stretched out in flight

There is something to love

in each moment.

For Rob

Black Capped Chickadee

For Rob

Looking back

I find it touching that being 6' 4" tall

your favorite bird was a small songbird,

the black-capped chickadee.

You loved babies and songbirds.

You loved playing with your baby daughter

and then baby granddaughter in your pool.

You introduced me to classical music,

my favorite genre to this day.

As you looked out over your white collar

your gaze, far reaching, was much like this black-capped chickadee.

Baptism

 Baptism

Baptism by water

Big feet and little feet.

Parents at attention

Love bonding them to each downy chick...

Green grasses reflecting

bless their passage.

Canadian Geese with chicks

I wonder what you are feeling...

Nesting Loon

I wonder what you are feeling...

Are you feeling one with all of life...

Concerned about protecting your brood?

Is your Mother voice calling out?

What is the speck beneath your eye?

Are the green grasses and lake water

reminding you of dreams

nesting beneath

your warm body?

Peach Glow

Baltimore Oriel

Peach Glow

There's so much I know

that can't fit

into the notes

of a melody...

but lives in the stillness

of green leaves

and the peach glow

of my heart.

Each Feather

Each Feather

Each feather has a story

of places I've flown...

of food I've caught...

of times I've stood on one leg

until peace entered my heart.

And when I loose a feather

I hope someone will find it

and listen to the story.

Heron Taking Off

Pushing the Envelope

Yellow Rumped Warbler

Pushing the Envelope

Let's me know

what's inside...

A still, small voice

and always a song.

A Different Way---

A Different Way

Sometimes our beaks

point a different way

not to the air, the ground, or a cattail

but to walking across the bark

feeling the life force of the tree

as we go the other way---

The Grey Matter

Beaver

The Grey Matter

On grey days

we come close

to ourselves.

The inner eye

feels where it's going.

It doesn't matter

if we look unkempt

and our hair is in disarray,

we are at home

in the space

between the light and the dark.

Red Wing Blackbird Medicine

Red Wing Blackbird Medicine

Red Wing Blackbird

Medicine

The fire of your mighty soul

ignites the flight

Your legs tuck under

Your black eyes unafraid

Your wings embrace the air

Your fine beak points

to where your medicine

is most needed.
